Parent Participation Hours

The Parent Participation Program plays a very important part in the successful operation of Holy Cross Regional High School.  Through this program we are able to generate income, reduce costs, and support a wide range of student activities.  An equally important aim of the program is to foster a spirit of community among families as we work together to create a better school for our children.

Families enrolled in the Parent Participation Program are responsible for:

  1. Paying a $300.00 deposit upon entering the school. Provided that the annual work commitment is fulfilled, the deposit will be carried forward to the following school year, or it will be refunded at the end of the school year when your youngest child graduates.  Any family that chooses to opt out of the program will pay a non-refundable $300.00 participation fee annually in lieu of work.

  2. Doing a minimum of 15 hours of work per year (but more is welcomed and encouraged!).

  3. Returning phone calls from coordinators. You will be called 2-3 times throughout the year to complete your work hours.  Please return all calls promptly, and remember that the coordinators are parent volunteers too.

  4. Having complete information about the job: Time, Place, Item to bring, whom to report to, and what the job requires.

  5. Signing the sign-in sheet so that you will be credited your hours. The sheet should be with the person that you are reporting to. Failure to sign could result in being counted absent (see point 6).

  6. Showing up for work you have committed to do. If you are absent from the job or do not perform the required task at the appropriate time, you will be fined $50.00. Any missed dates will need to be rescheduled.  Absence from a second, scheduled work commitment will result in a second $50.00 fine and automatic suspension from the Parent Participation Program. Your $300.00 participation deposit will be forfeited and recorded as a non-participation fee for that school year.  You will still be required to pay any assessed fines. For subsequent school years, you will be required to pay the $300.00 participation fee in lieu of work.

  7. Finding a suitable replacement. You may NOT send a student in your place.

  8. Phoning the coordinator if you are unable to attend. If you have a reasonable excuse for being absent from a job commitment, PLEASE phone and let the coordinator know ahead of time so they can make other arrangements and re-schedule your commitment.

  9. Keeping track of your hours. (e.g. If you have already completed 7 hours of work, know that you will still be contacted to complete the remaining 8 hours).
